The investigation established that the accused demanded money for a favorable decision on a criminal case.
The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) reported the detention of a human rights activist who extorted 50 thousand US dollars.
According to the agency's information, N.D.M. demanded the specified amount for assistance in resolving a criminal case that was under consideration by the internal affairs authorities.
"It has been established that N.D.M., acting by proxy, represented the interests of the victim in various government agencies, extorting 50 thousand US dollars, referring to agreements with officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic for the release of one of the defendants in the criminal case," the SCNS press release states.
On September 17, while receiving $20 thousand, N.D.M. was detained at the moment of committing the crime. She was placed in pre-trial detention center No. 23 in Karakol.
During the investigation, the possible connection of officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic with the actions of the detainee is being checked.
