As reported in the official statement by Prosecutor Lor Becco, one of the detainees attempted to leave France through Charles de Gaulle Airport. She also expressed regret over the premature disclosure of information about the investigation, which, in her opinion, could negatively affect the course of the inquiry, reports France Info.

The detention of one of the suspects occurred on October 25, when he was at Roissy - Charles de Gaulle Airport, according to a source close to the case, citing information from France Info.

The publication Paris Match also confirmed the detention, stating that the suspect was arrested on his way to a plane heading to Algeria.

According to Le Figaro, a total of two suspects have been detained. The second was captured by the police in the Seine-Saint-Denis department. Both are accused of organized theft and participation in a criminal community.

At the same time, two more suspects are wanted in connection with the theft: one group entered the "Apollo" gallery using a cherry picker, while the other helped escape from the crime scene on scooters.

Recall that on October 19, masked criminals entered the Louvre without hindrance and stole nine items from the imperial collection, including jewels belonging to Napoleon and his wife Josephine. The damage from the theft is estimated at 88 million euros. Following this incident, Louvre director Laurence de Car resigned, but her request was denied by French President Emmanuel Macron.
