According to the mayor, "those responsible must answer for their actions in accordance with the current legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic."
As previously reported, the incident happened around 2:00 AM when a BMW, driven by Taalaibekov, collided with a Toyota Will at the intersection of Omur and Dolon-Biy streets. After the accident, a conflict arose between the drivers, which ended in physical violence from four men, resulting in the official sustaining serious injuries, including a broken jaw and knocked-out teeth. He was urgently hospitalized.
The Internal Affairs Department of the Lenin District confirmed the receipt of the statement. All four suspects, born in 1997, were detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek City Police Department in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. A medical examination showed that the detainees were under the influence of alcohol.
On October 25, a criminal case was initiated under Article 280 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan concerning hooliganism. Necessary examinations have been appointed for further investigation.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded that violations of public order and creating threats to the safety of others may result in criminal penalties, including imprisonment for up to five years.
The investigation is ongoing.
