The National Committee organizing the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane has given the green light to the Fitzroy River in Queensland, Australia, for hosting canoe and kayak racing events. This is reported by The Australian.

It is known that the Fitzroy River is famous for its crocodiles and strong tides, which raises certain concerns, as noted by the publication.

Senator Matt Canavan, representing Queensland, expresses doubts about several parameters of the river: "After several months of testing, it has become clear that the flow rate is significantly below the necessary levels for holding competitions."

Earlier, Andrew Liveris, head of the Brisbane Olympic Committee, responded to questions raised by national rowing federations: "There are sharks in the ocean too, but that doesn't stop us from surfing."
