Wrestlers from Kyrgyzstan were left without medals on the second day of the freestyle wrestling competitions at the Asian Games currently taking place in Incheon, South Korea.
According to the official website of the Games, on September 29, Aiaal Lazarev, competing in the 125 kg weight category, lost in his debut match to South Korean wrestler Kungjin Nam.
Earlier, two more wrestlers from Kyrgyzstan were eliminated at the start of the freestyle wrestling competitions. Innokentiy Innokentyev (up to 74 kg) lost in the 1/8 finals to Japanese wrestler Daisuke Shimada, while Nadyrbek uulu Ulan (up to 61 kg) lost in the 1/4 finals to Daulet Niyazbekov from Kazakhstan.
Nevertheless, our athletes still had hope for a "bronze" medal at the Asian Games, but for them to continue competing in the consolation tournament, their former opponents needed to reach the finals. Unfortunately, this did not happen: both Kazakh Niyazbekov, Japanese Shimada, and Korean Kungjin Nam lost in the next round, and the Kyrgyzstani wrestlers ended up without medals in the freestyle wrestling competitions at the Asian Games.
However, our freestyle wrestlers already have something to be proud of at this Asian Games: let us remind you that the freestyle wrestlers contributed two medals to our team's tally: Magomed Musaev won "silver," and Elaman Dogdurbek uulu took "bronze."
