On October 21, this Tuesday, the National Olympic Committee of Mongolia gathered Olympic medalists along with their relatives to pay tribute to them.

Mongolia first participated in the Olympic Games in 1964, held in Tokyo. Just four years later, in 1968, 20 Mongolian athletes competed in the Summer Olympics in Mexico City. On October 20, 1968, Chimidbazaryn Damdinsharav, a Hero of Labor and People's Teacher, won a bronze medal in freestyle wrestling in the 52 kg category, becoming the country's first Olympic medalist. He was followed by Zhigjidyn Munkhbat, who won a silver medal. Additionally, bronze medals at those Games were awarded to People's Teacher Danzandarjaagiin Sereeter and Honored Athlete Tumuriin Artag. As a result, Mongolia ranked 27th among 112 countries participating in the Olympic Games in Mexico.

To commemorate this significant event, October 20 was proclaimed Olympic Medalists' Day, establishing a good tradition of celebrating athletes' achievements.

At the meeting held at the "Olympic House," Olympic medalists such as Chimidbazaryn Damdinsharav and Danzandarjaagiin Sereeter, bronze medalists from 1968, Zevegijn Oidov, silver medalist from the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, Ravdangiin Davaadalai, bronze medalist from 1980 in Moscow, Namjilyn Bayarsaihan, bronze medalist from 1992 in Barcelona, Dorjpalamyn Narmandakh, bronze medalist from 1996 in Atlanta, as well as silver medalists from the 2008 Olympics in Beijing Otgoriin Gundegmaa and Purevdorjiin Serdamba were present. Among those present were also bronze medalists from the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo Tsend-Ochiryn Togtbaatar and Soronzonboldyn Batsetseg.
