Vyacheslav Viktorovich Kopotev
Artist - medalist. Honored Worker of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic. Born on March 5, 1942, in the city of Kuibyshev.
In 1962, he graduated from the pedagogical department of the Frunze Art School. He is one of the first artists in the republic to show interest in the art of medals. His works, distinguished by their civic themes, have been exhibited at all-Union and international medal exhibitions. He has created medals dedicated to significant events in the history, culture, and labor achievements of the Kyrgyz people.
In his medals, Kopotev pays attention to both the substantive content and formal qualities. He has produced significant thematic cycles of medals, such as "Applied Art of Kyrgyzstan" (1972), "Ancient Cultural Monuments of Kyrgyzstan" (1973); "Architecture of Ancient Rus" (1973), "Harvest" (1975), "The First Lenin Decrees" (1977). The artist represented Kyrgyzstan at the International Exhibition-Competition "Revival of the Medal" in France (1974), the International Souvenir Exhibition in Damascus (1974), and the XVI Congress of Medal Art in Poland (1975). He developed sketches for the memorial plaque to T. Herzen in 2005.
For the development of sketches for the medal "For Charity," he was awarded the second prize in the competition in 2007.
Since 1976, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. The works of V. Kopotev are held in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev, the State Hermitage, the Pushkin Museum, the State Historical Museum in Kyiv, the Kulikovo Field Museum, the museum at the Mint in Moscow, as well as in private collections both near and far abroad.
