Toktogul Kasymov

Kasyimov Toktogul
Applied artist. Painter. Born on June 15, 1943, in the village of Kyzyl-Suu, Jumgal District, Naryn Region. In 1968, he graduated from the decorative arts department of the Frunze Art School and was assigned to work as a decorator in the city of Osh.
Since 1976, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
The talent of T. Kasyimov is most vividly expressed in his work on the development of the traditions of Kyrgyz felt carpets, ala-kiyiz, although the artist also works in various types of embroidery and in chie. The artist introduced narrative motifs into the ancient form of ala-kiyiz, creating complex mood panels. In easel painting, Kasyimov is interesting for his sharp compositional thinking, color intuition, and knowledge of the specific aspects of folk life.
Participant in republican and international exhibitions. The best works of Kasyimov are located in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts, as well as in private collections abroad.
