Toktosunova Gulchakhra Iskenderovna

Art historian. Honored Worker of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic. Corresponding member of the National Academy of Arts of the Kyrgyz Republic. Born on September 30, 1947, in the city of Frunze.

In 1968, she graduated from the Frunze Art School and in 1973 - from the Art History Department of the Leningrad State Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin.

From 1974 to 1984, she worked in the Ministry of Culture of the Kalmyk ASSR as an art methodologist and chief curator of the Kalmyk Art Gallery. From 1985 to 1989, she headed creative sections in the Union of Artists of the Kyrgyz Republic. From 1990 to 2002, she was a research associate in the Department of Art Studies at the Center for Manas Studies and Artistic Culture of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic. Since 1995, she has been engaged in teaching activities at various universities in the capital. From 1997 to 2004, she served as Deputy Director for Research at the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev.

Since 2005, she has been working at the National Academy of Arts of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Since 1991, she has been a member of the Union of Artists of the Kyrgyz Republic. Author of scientific articles on Kyrgyz visual art.

Engaged in museum, editorial, pedagogical, and public activities.
