Sadikov Turgunbay Sadikovich
Sculptor. Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic, People's Artist of the USSR and the Kyrgyz Republic, Hero of Socialist Labor, academician, full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Laureate of the Lenin Prize and the Toktogul State Prize.
President of the Academy of Arts of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Born on November 4, 1935, in the village of Govsuvor, Batken District, Osh Region. In 1959, he graduated from the Frunze Art School. From 1959 to 1961, he worked as an apprentice to sculptor V.A. Puzirevsky and S.T. Konenkov.
From 1961 to 1964 - attended advanced courses at the Moscow Higher Artistic and Industrial School (Moscow).
From 1964 to 1968 - creative work (Frunze).
From 1968 to 1982 - Chairman of the Board of the Union of Artists of Kyrgyzstan.
A major master of easel and monumental sculpture, he enriched the spiritual life of the Kyrgyz people with his works.
Sadikov's monumental art is characterized by the scale of its ideological and artistic content, originality of plastic solutions, and a vividly national expression of the universal and international. It is also distinguished by its organic connection with the specific surrounding space. His valuable contribution to the visual arts of Kyrgyzstan includes portraits of contemporaries - builders, workers, cultural and scientific figures, and the mother-woman, created from local materials. He made significant contributions to education. Thanks to his efforts, a system of continuous artistic education was established in the republic. Sadikov's creativity testifies to the presence of a major national artist in the art of Kyrgyzstan.
Participant in republican and international exhibitions. His works are housed in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev; in major museums in the CIS cities and abroad.
Awarded the Order of the "Badge of Honor" and the Gold Medal of the Academy of Arts of the USSR.
