Sadykov Turgunbay

Sadykov Turgunbay (1935),

sculptor, public figure, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic (1993), Laureate of the State Prize of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of science and technology (2001)

Kyrgyz. Born in the village of Govsuvor, Batken district, Osh region.

Graduated from the Frunze Art College (1960) and the Moscow Higher Art and Industry School (1964).

Served as chairman of the board of the Union of Artists of the Kyrgyz SSR (1967-1988), simultaneously as secretary of the board of the Union of Artists of the USSR, chairman of the board of the Culture Fund of the Kyrgyz SSR, rector of the Higher Art College, and since 1995 - president of the Art Academy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts (1987).

The sculptor's works are held in major museums in Russia, the CIS countries, Europe, Asia, and America, and are also installed in the urban environments of Luxembourg, Chicago, and the Moscow region.

Awarded the Order of Lenin, the Badge of Honor, the Order of "Parasat" of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1995), Gold Medals of the USSR Academy of Arts (1979), named after Grekov (1981), and the VDNH of the USSR, and the medal for the 10th anniversary of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2002). Hero of Socialist Labor (1990).

Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic (1997). Laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize of Kyrgyzstan (1967), the Lenin Prize (1980), and the Toktogul Prize (1981).
People's Artist of the USSR (1986) and the Kyrgyz Republic. Laureate of International Awards "Service to the Turkic World" (Turkey, 1999), "Daanishman", "Meirim" (2001).
