Akhunov Urumbay
Watercolor artist. Born on March 21, 1923, in the city of Fergana. In 1951, he graduated from the secondary school for working youth. In 1962, with the active participation of U. Akhunov, the Osh Art and Production Workshops of the Artistic Fund of the Kyrgyz SSR were established. His natural talent and systematic work in the field of visual arts determined Akhunov's professional training, allowing him to participate in art exhibitions and join the Union of Artists in 1966.
From the very beginning of his creative journey, the artist's favorite technique has been watercolor. One of his significant works is a cycle of watercolors dedicated to the monuments of medieval architecture in Central Asia. The artist programmatically depicts not only the architectural masterpieces of antiquity but also ordinary cult and civil buildings. The sheets of the cycle are characterized by a combination of documentary accuracy, portrait-like representation of architecture, conveying the overall state of the southern nature with its sunlight and richness of color, as well as the artist's special lyrical mood.
Participant in republican, all-union, and international exhibitions. His works are housed in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev.
