Mikhalev Andrey Nikolaevich

(1910-1981)
Graphic artist. People's Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR. He entered the history of Kyrgyz art as a versatile artist working in graphics, easel and monumental painting, sculpture, and as a public figure who contributed to the development of visual arts in the republic and the training of artistic personnel. Born on January 25, 1910, in Nizhny Novgorod.

In 1939, he graduated from the graphic arts faculty of the Moscow Institute of Fine Arts. He studied under outstanding Soviet artists P.Ya. Pavlinov, V.A. Favorov, K.N. Istomin, M.S. Rodionov, A.D. Goncharov. After graduating from the institute, he was sent to Kyrgyzstan for teaching work at the Frunze Art School. This period also marks the beginning of his creative work.

From 1941 to 1945, he participated in the organization and work of the poster workshop "Windows of KirTAG".

Mikhalev's graphic works are characterized by an interest in themes of contemporary labor life in the republic, a culture of drawing, and mastery of lithography, etching, and watercolor techniques.

He participated in republican, all-Union, and international exhibitions. His works are housed in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev.

He was awarded the Order of the "Badge of Honor" and 5 Certificates of Honor from the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR.

Since 1939, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
