Prose writer Kusein Esenkodzhoyev

Prose writer K. Esenkodzhoyev was born in the village of Ichke-Bulun (now the Jety-Oguz district of the Issyk-Kul region) in a family of poor peasants. In 1937, he graduated from high school and enrolled in the Kyrgyz State Pedagogical Institute. In 1941, at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, he volunteered to go to the front.

K. Esenkodzhoyev is one of the founders of the genre of science fiction in Kyrgyz children's literature. His literary activity began with the book "Sayakatchy bala" ("The Boy Traveler"), published in 1938. He is the author of a number of science fiction stories, cycles of poems, and translations into Kyrgyz of fairy tales by A. S. Pushkin, poems and epics by V. V. Mayakovsky, S. Mikhalkov, K. Chukovsky, and others.

K. Esenkodzhoyev died in battles defending Moscow.

Member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1939.
