From September 8 to 14, 2014, the World Nomad Games will take place in the city of Cholpon-Ata on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul. Sports delegations from Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Gagauzia, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, more than 10 subjects of the Russian Federation, and China will participate in the games. Kyrgyzstan, as the organizer of the competitions, will field two teams in each sport.
The program of the World Nomad Games includes such sports as kok-boru, toguz korgool, Kyrgyz kuresh, alysh, oodarysh, at-chabys, jorgo-salysh, kunanchabys, ordo, and kyzy-kumai. Medals will also be awarded for traditional games: tyin-en-mei, kulatuu, and salburuun.
The World Nomad Games are analogous to the Olympic, Asian, and Paralympic Games. This tourism project aims to promote the traditional, national games of many nomadic peoples. The project is presented on behalf of Kyrgyzstan.
