Kyrgyzstan has developed an alternative to the Olympic Games. These are the World Nomad Games, which will take place from September 8 to 14 this year. The program of the World Games includes kok-boru, toguz korgol, kyrgyz kuresh, alysh, oodarysh, and others. Nine countries from the Central Asian region have already supported the games. The project was also presented at the forum of Kyrgyz diasporas in Moscow.
Many were interested in hearing about Kyrgyzstan's new branding initiative. Even representatives of the Russian government attended. The project was presented in Moscow by Askat Akibaev. The president of the World Ethno Games Foundation believes that the nomad games will become a unique brand for the country: “Every country should have its own brand. We should not be similar to anyone else. We should be distinguished by something special, and that will be the ethno games.”
The World Nomad Games are yet another opportunity to preserve the authentic spiritual values of nomadic peoples, including the Kyrgyz. There is a keen interest from many countries. About forty states promise live broadcasts. During the games, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Mongolia, Moldova, and regions of Russia will compete in many national games.
“We are confident that these games will eventually become Olympic. Because everything global starts in backyards, even the Olympic Games began with three games,” says Akibaev.
At the forum of Kyrgyz diasporas, Askat Akibaev proposed three projects for collaboration among businessmen. These are in the fields of medicine, forums, and sports.
