On the night of October 22, poachers who illegally shot a mountain goat were apprehended in the Ak-Suy Gorge of the Moscow District in the Chui Region. According to the hunting management under the Presidential Administration, the detainees threatened the gamekeepers with job loss. Workers from small hydroelectric power stations located in the area reported to the gamekeepers of the State Hunting Management and the Chui Regional Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources that poachers were hunting mountain goats in two vehicles. “The gamekeepers set out to apprehend the vehicles. However, one of the drivers, possessing a radio, warned his accomplice, allowing him to escape. Four poachers were in the first vehicle, along with searchlights, a radio, and thermal imagers. When the gamekeepers attempted to confiscate the equipment, the violators began to threaten them with violence,” one witness reported. Video footage captured a Mitsubishi Pajero vehicle with the number 08KG108III. According to tolom.kg, this vehicle has 22 unpaid fines totaling 10,800 soms. In the morning, the gamekeepers conducted an inspection of the area where the hunting took place. Along the river, they discovered the carcass of a female mountain goat and shell casings from cartridges. An act of violation was drawn up at the scene, and the materials will be forwarded to law enforcement agencies. The claim for damages caused to wildlife due to the illegal shooting of the mountain goat amounts to 300,000 soms.
