With the arrival of autumn, cases of wolf attacks on animals have become more frequent, prompting authorities to take measures for their elimination.
Experts note that residents of two districts most often request the shooting of predators.
“Currently, we are receiving requests from residents of the Syrt Valley in the Ak-Suu and Jeti-Oguz districts regarding wolf and jackal attacks on domestic animals. There are 11 groups working on their elimination in the region. We have been keeping track of wolves since the beginning of the year. To date, 25 wolves and 56 jackals have been shot in the Ak-Suu district, 6 wolves and 22 jackals in the Tyup district, and 12 wolves and 18 jackals in the Jeti-Oguz district. Additionally, shooting is also taking place in the Ton district,” said Rustam Zhangabilov, a leading specialist in the department of specially protected natural areas of the Issyk-Kul regional office of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Furthermore, according to the Issyk-Kul regional hunters' society, 33 jackals and 3 wolves have been shot in the region.
