According to the investigation, human rights activist N.D.M. demanded $50,000 for a favorable decision on a criminal case being investigated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Investigative Service.
According to the GKNB, the suspect acted on behalf of the victim in various government agencies. In exchange for the specified amount, she promised to secure the release of the case's defendant from custody, allegedly having made arrangements with officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The woman was detained on September 17 when she received $20,000. She is currently in pre-trial detention facility No. 23.
The investigation is also looking into the possible involvement of police officers in this crime.
