A tragedy occurred at a famous ski resort


In Turkey, the trial regarding the fire at the Grand Kartal hotel, which claimed the lives of 78 people, has concluded. Sentences were handed down to 32 defendants.

According to Modern.az, as reported by the NTV channel, among those convicted were 11 individuals, including the hotel owner Halit Ergül, his wife, and two daughters. Also in the dock were the accountant, the hotel general manager, two deputy mayors of Bolu, the fire department chief, and a fire inspector.

The hearings took place in a specially prepared sports hall of a local school under the auspices of the First High Criminal Court. The time taken to announce the verdict was 13 minutes, which was met with applause from those present.

The fire that caused this tragedy occurred on the night of January 22. As a result of the incident, 78 people died, including 34 minors, and 137 individuals were injured.
