According to the agency, 40 fatalities have been recorded in Haiti, along with 10 missing persons. In Jamaica, the death toll reached eight, while in the Dominican Republic, one person died and one is reported missing.

Hurricane 'Melissa' caused significant destruction in Cuba, Jamaica, and Haiti, leaving thousands without electricity and forcing residents to evacuate.

This hurricane, classified as one of the strongest in the Atlantic in recorded history, reached Jamaica on October 28 as a Category 5 storm on the Saffir-Simpson scale, with wind gusts up to 295 kilometers per hour.

In Cuba, the hurricane approached as a Category 3 storm, and by October 29, approximately 735,000 people were in shelters. The hurricane's strength has now been downgraded to Category 2.

Starting October 29, 'Melissa' began to affect the southeastern Bahamas, and by the end of October 30, the hurricane is expected to pass west of the Bermuda Islands.
