As of October 1, there are 14,666 foreign citizens engaged in labor activities in Kazakhstan under permits from local executive bodies.

According to information provided by the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the largest number of labor migrants arrives from China, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and India.

In particular, there are 5,330 citizens from China, 2,682 from Uzbekistan, 1,046 from Turkey, and 1,012 from India working in Kazakhstan.

According to the Ministry of Labor, 1,896 employers in the country have attracted foreign workers. Of the total number of employees working for these employers, 96% are Kazakhstanis, which is equivalent to more than 339.1 thousand people.

Permits for attracting foreign labor are distributed as follows: 561 issued for managers and their deputies (first category), 2,280 for heads of structural divisions (second category). The majority of the attracted migrants fall into the third (specialists) and fourth (qualified workers) categories – 3,884 and 988 people, respectively. Additionally, 3,036 people arrived for seasonal work, and 3,918 people came through corporate transfers.

In 2025, the total quota for attracting foreign workers was set at 14.8 thousand people, but in March it was increased to 16.5 thousand in response to requests from local executive bodies. Since August, due to the expansion of the list of professions for seasonal foreign workers, the total quota has increased to 19.4 thousand people.
