A Employment Center for Migrants to Open in Southern Kyrgyzstan
In the southern capital of Kyrgyzstan, a Center for Employment for domestic migrants abroad will be opened. It is planned that the support office for migrant workers will start operating fully in less than a month. The official opening date is set for November 19.
According to Gulnur Mamyrava, the state secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Migration, and Youth of the Kyrgyz Republic, this project aims to promote legal migration. Its staff will inform citizens wishing to work abroad about available employment quotas, rules of stay, and other regulations.
— The main reason we are facing problems related to labor migration today is illegal migration, — said Gulnur Mamyrava while speaking at a meeting of the Public Council. — The fact is that about 70% of our citizens go abroad for work illegally. This leads to issues with social protection for workers and "black lists." We must do everything possible to legalize this process.
The state secretary appealed to media representatives to promote the ministry's website, which, according to her, contains all the necessary information for those planning to work abroad in the near future.
— All information is freely available, — emphasized Mamyrava. — However, despite this, our citizens, when going to work, for example, in Russia, continue to find themselves in difficult situations. This is not only due to the lack of information among the population but also because some people approach labor migration carelessly, not considering the possible consequences.
Additionally, the Ministry of Labor, Migration, and Youth of Kyrgyzstan plans to open its representative office in the Russian capital soon. Officials hope that by working with migrant workers at their place of residence, they can provide targeted assistance to Kyrgyz citizens. However, the agency acknowledges that one representative office is insufficient for all migrant workers.
