According to a report from The Kathmandu Post, a tragedy occurred on the Yalung Ri peak in Nepal: seven people died, four were injured, and another four are missing due to an avalanche.
As clarified by Gyan Kumar Mahato, a representative of the local police, among the victims are three U.S. citizens, one Canadian, one Italian, and two Nepalese. The avalanche struck while the group of climbers, accompanied by local guides, was at the Yalung Ri base camp at an altitude of 5,630 meters, preparing to ascend Dolma Khang (6,332 m).
Search operations were suspended with the onset of night but are planned to resume in the morning.
Recall that at the end of October, there was also an avalanche incident in Nepal when it descended from Annapurna and covered the base camp located at an altitude of about 4,100 meters. In a video published online, snow masses can be seen crashing down on the camp, flooding tents and significantly reducing visibility. However, tourists did not panic and even tried to pose for photos. There has been no information about injuries in this case.
