During a public discussion, Leonid Bukhman, a distinguished cultural figure, raised an important question about the future of the historical center of Bishkek.

It is important to note that the general plan project was developed by specialists from the Research Institute in St. Petersburg. Bukhman, who had the opportunity to visit the northern capital of Russia, noted that he was struck by how the authorities there care for the preservation of historical sites.

“In the center of St. Petersburg, buildings three to four stories high have been preserved, which helps maintain the historical appearance of the city. People come from all over to enjoy walks in this part of the city. Bishkek has 'stalinkas' where outstanding individuals lived. These buildings are unique in that they have special reinforcements and even bomb shelters. Will these 'stalinkas' be preserved in the center? Unfortunately, the culture of excursions in Bishkek has practically disappeared, but these buildings could revive it,” Bukhman stated.

Irina Grishechkina, a representative of the Research Institute, confirmed Bukhman's opinion, noting that the historical appearance of the city must be preserved. She assured that the 'stalinkas' in the center of Bishkek will remain in their original form.
