In the center of Bishkek, at the site of the former restaurant "Naryn," construction work continues on the creation of the multifunctional complex Bishkek City. This site is located at the intersection of Frunze and Shopokov streets.

According to information from 24.kg, the area is completely fenced off, and construction machinery is actively working on the site. Currently, the concrete work has been completed, and the foundation for the future business center, which is planned to be built, has been erected.

The restaurant "Naryn," which opened during the Soviet Union and became an architectural landmark of the capital, was demolished in May 2017. Although it had the status of an architectural monument, the city authorities excluded it from the relevant list.

According to media reports, the investor of this project is a private company that intends to build a modern commercial complex on the site of the restaurant, including a hotel, office spaces, and retail areas. However, the pace of project implementation remains low, and active construction has not yet begun, although completion of the work is planned for the end of 2025.

The Bishkek city hall previously stated that the developer possesses all the necessary permits. However, the project has raised concerns among architects and the public, as the construction site is located in the historical center of the city, where the issue of dense development is particularly acute.

According to media reports, the main investor is entrepreneur Habibula Abdukadir, who is linked to significant investments and investigations related to smuggling in Central Asia. He was present at the ceremony for the capsule laying for construction at this site. In published materials, the Abdukadir family is referred to as "shadow investors" controlling significant projects in the region.

Journalists who visited the construction site noted the absence of signs and plaques, as well as the fact that the work is being carried out without indicating the customer or contractor. It should be reminded that the Ministry of Construction requires information about the progress of construction work to be displayed on the facades of all projects.
