The Housing Committee approved the tightening of penalties for traffic violations

Today, January 13, the first reading of the bill aimed at tightening penalties for traffic violations took place. This decision was made by the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on judicial and legal issues, law enforcement, combating crime, and countering corruption.

The bill proposes amendments to several codes, including the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes, as well as the Code of Offenses and the Traffic Law. The initiator was the Cabinet of Ministers, and the changes were developed within the framework of the president's decree concerning road safety.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oktobyr Urmambetov presented the bill and noted that the proposed changes include:

During the discussion, deputies Azamat Israilov and Ulukbek Uzakbaev proposed to additionally consider the possibility of imposing fines on drivers who commit serious violations while intoxicated, in addition to revoking their licenses.

As a result of the discussion, the concept of the bill was approved by the deputies.
