The new draft law proposes to increase responsibility for marrying individuals who have not reached the established marriage age. In addition to this, a ban will be introduced on marriages between relatives on the collateral line, including:
- uncle and niece;
- aunt and nephew;
- cousins, second cousins, and fourth-degree relatives.
According to the proposed changes, violations will be subject to fines or corrective labor for up to two years.
Exceptions will be allowed only in cases where one of the partners is an adopted child or has been adopted, and there is no actual blood relation between them.
At present, the Family Code already prohibits marriages between relatives in the direct ascending and descending lines, as well as between full and half-siblings, including adoptive parents and adopted children.
