In Uzbekistan, starting from March 1, 2026, a law will come into effect that prohibits the import, sale, purchase, storage, and export of electronic cigarettes, commonly known as vapes. This decision was officially announced by the press service of the Ministry of Justice after the country's president, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, signed the corresponding law on November 27.
The established measures imply criminal liability for violating the new rules, especially in cases of large-scale distribution of the prohibited products or repeated offenses after administrative punishment.
The minimum fine for the import and sale of vapes will range from 123.6 million sums (about $10,300) to 206 million sums (approximately $17,300). Additionally, the law provides for the possibility of imposing corrective labor for a period of two to three years and restrictions on freedom for a period of three to five years. In cases of serious violations, imprisonment for a term of three to five years may even be possible.
It is worth noting that Kyrgyzstan has also introduced a temporary ban on the import of electronic cigarettes, initiated by the country's government.
