In Kyrgyzstan, penalties for attacks related to professional activities have been tightened.

Sadyr Japarov, the President of Kyrgyzstan, has approved the draft law "On Amendments to the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic." This was reported by the press service of the head of state.

The law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on September 25, 2023.

The main objective of this law is to create the necessary legal framework to protect professionals and individuals performing public duties from violent actions.

The amendments pertain to Articles 136 and 280 of the Criminal Code, and they tighten the responsibility for acts of violence against those who are fulfilling their official or professional duties.

"In particular, responsibility is established for causing minor harm to health, which results in temporary disturbances or minor permanent loss of ability to work, if this occurred in connection with the victim performing their official or professional duties (part 2 of Article 136 of the Criminal Code)," the message emphasizes.

According to this provision, a fine of 500 to 1,000 calculated indicators is stipulated.

Similar changes concern Article 280 of the Criminal Code, which defines punishment for hooliganism against individuals engaged in official or professional activities or fulfilling public duties. For such actions, a fine of 500 to 1,000 calculated indicators or imprisonment for a term of three to five years is provided.
