On November 11, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, attended the ceremony for the laying of the first stone of a new football stadium in New Tashkent, as reported by the press service of the head of state.

The planned capacity of the stadium will be 55,000 spectators, which will allow it to host the semifinals and final of the World Championship (U-20) in 2027, which will take place in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

The total cost of construction is estimated at 100 million dollars.

It is worth noting that work is also underway on a new stadium in Bishkek, which will be designed for 51,000 spectators.

The completion of construction in Bishkek is scheduled for the end of summer 2026.

Currently, the largest arena in Central Asia is the Olympic Stadium in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), which accommodates 45,000 spectators.
