Fines Introduced for Attacking Doctors and Teachers: Up to 100,000 Som

The President has signed a law that amends the Criminal Code, increasing the punishment for causing minor harm to health. These changes will take effect in ten days.

According to the new version of Article 136 "Causing Minor Harm to Health" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, the fine for this offense now ranges from 200 to 500 calculated indicators (equivalent to 20,000 to 50,000 soms) or community service for a period of 40 to 100 hours.

Under the new amendments, punishments are now also provided for causing minor harm to health to individuals performing their professional or public duties. In this case, the fine will range from 500 to 1,000 calculated indicators (50,000 to 100,000 soms). Similar measures are also applicable to Article 280 "Hooliganism" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The explanatory note to the law emphasizes that these changes are aimed at protecting employees in the fields of social, medical, and educational work, who have increasingly become victims of aggression while performing their duties in recent years.
