Temporary ban on the import of electronic cigarettes in Kyrgyzstan initiated by the government

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic is initiating a draft resolution that proposes a temporary ban on the import of electronic cigarettes and liquids containing nicotine. The document prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce has already been submitted for public discussion.

As specified, this measure is aimed at implementing the Law "On Protecting Citizens' Health from the Consequences of Tobacco and Nicotine Consumption" and is intended to reduce the spread of nicotine-containing products among the population.

If the resolution is adopted, the Ministry of Economy must notify the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must inform the Executive Committee of the CIS about the introduction of these restrictions.

It is proposed to set the duration of the ban for six months.

Control over compliance with this ban will be entrusted to the Customs Service and the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), which will be responsible for preventing the illegal import of the specified goods.
