The Ministry of Economy has published a draft that implies an extension of the ban on the export of timber and wood products outside the EAEU countries.

If this initiative is approved, the ban will last for six months and will apply to timber and wood products classified under codes 4401, 4403, and 4407 according to the EAEU Customs Tariff, which will not be allowed to leave the customs territory of the Union.

According to representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the main goal of this measure is to prevent the re-export of timber and wood products that come to Kyrgyzstan from EAEU member countries. Currently, the volume of timber harvesting in the country is extremely low, and domestic production of products largely depends on imports.

It is worth noting that as early as the end of May 2025, the government had already established a similar ban on the export of timber and wood products for a period of six months.
