The new visa requirements will only apply to citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as Moldova does not have bilateral agreements on free movement with these states. Citizens of Russia will not face any changes, as there is a separate agreement between the two countries.
According to media reports, this decision is driven by Moldova's desire for integration with the European Union and alignment of its migration policy with EU standards.
Previously, Moldovan authorities had already expressed their intention to denounce agreements that, in their opinion, do not bring significant benefits to citizens and do not align with national interests.
If this draft is adopted, citizens of Kyrgyzstan will need to obtain a visa in advance to enter Moldova for employment, study, or private visits.
