For the first time in the history of Kyrgyzstan, a procedure for the operation of crematoria has been developed. The corresponding draft resolution has been published for public discussion.

According to the State Agency for Public Service and Local Self-Government, there is no detailed regulatory act in the country that defines the rules for the functioning of crematoria, the procedure for cremation services for the deceased, the handling of ashes, and the burial of urns. In this regard, the adoption of this resolution is an important step towards creating modern standards in the funeral sector, taking into account sanitary, environmental, and social aspects.

The proposed draft resolution includes rules regulating:

In the explanatory note, it is emphasized that "the adoption of this procedure will create a unified mechanism for regulating the operation of crematoria across the country, systematize funeral services related to cremation, and eliminate unauthorized actions and violations of sanitary norms by implementing unified standards and requirements for the quality of services provided."

The document also includes norms aimed at reducing harmful emissions, minimizing negative impacts on the environment, and protecting the health of citizens. Additionally, the resolution provides for the use of environmentally friendly coffins made from materials that completely burn (such as cardboard, bamboo, and vine), which will help preserve forest resources and reduce the cost of cremation services.
