According to the State Agency for Public Service and Local Self-Government, there is no detailed regulatory act in the country that defines the rules for the functioning of crematoria, the procedure for cremation services for the deceased, the handling of ashes, and the burial of urns. In this regard, the adoption of this resolution is an important step towards creating modern standards in the funeral sector, taking into account sanitary, environmental, and social aspects.
The proposed draft resolution includes rules regulating:
- the organization and provision of cremation services for bodies;
- the acceptance and registration of bodies for cremation;
- the conduct of cremation, both planned and emergency;
- the issuance of urns with ashes and the procedure for their storage or burial;
- the handling of anatomical remains subject to cremation;
- the maintenance of accounting and reporting (cremation registration logs and urn issuance).
The document also includes norms aimed at reducing harmful emissions, minimizing negative impacts on the environment, and protecting the health of citizens. Additionally, the resolution provides for the use of environmentally friendly coffins made from materials that completely burn (such as cardboard, bamboo, and vine), which will help preserve forest resources and reduce the cost of cremation services.
