The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has decided to exempt from customs duties the goods necessary for the implementation of the investment project for the construction and operation of a solar power plant with a capacity of 1.9 GW.

The resolution signed by the Prime Minister aims to simplify conditions for investors.

This project is being implemented within the framework of an agreement signed on July 25, 2025, between the government, Sonningdale Limited, and RECA LLC.

The document emphasizes that this measure will help create more favorable conditions for attracting investments and accelerate the implementation of this energy project, which is of strategic importance for the country.

In the village of Kyzyl-Oruk in the Issyk-Kul region, an ambitious investment project for a 1.9 GW solar power plant is being implemented, which will become the largest in Central Asia. The investor of the project is RECA LLC (ROX Energy Global) in partnership with the government of Kyrgyzstan and the foreign company Sonningdale Limited. The total investment amount will be around $2 billion. The project aims to develop renewable energy and ensure the energy independence of the republic. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
