The area of the power plant will exceed 669 hectares
At the international forum in Suzhou, China, the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan signed several agreements with Chinese companies for the development of renewable energy and attracting investments in this sector. This was reported by the ministry's press service.
According to the signed investment agreement between the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the companies States Technology Co., Ltd. and San Energy Co., the plans include the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 250 MW in the village of Ak-Turpak in the Batken region.
The construction of this facility is scheduled for 2025, and its commissioning is planned for 2027. The solar power plant will occupy an area of over 669 hectares, and the produced energy will be purchased by the National Electric Networks of Kyrgyzstan (NESC). This project will provide electricity to the residents of the Ak-Turpak rural district and increase the share of renewable energy sources in the national energy balance.
In addition, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Chinese Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA). This memorandum envisions joint actions to attract investors and financial institutions, as well as organizing research and training for Kyrgyz specialists. One of the areas of this cooperation will be the analysis of the feasibility of creating floating solar power plants on the Toktogul Reservoir.
