Agreement with China: A 250 MW Solar Power Plant Will Be Built in Kyrgyzstan

During the international forum held in Suzhou, an investment agreement was signed between the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic and Chinese companies regarding the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 250 MW. This information was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

The document was signed by the Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Talaybek Ibraev, the president of States Technology Co., Limited, Liu Fernando Oscar, and the general director of San Energy Co., Liu Yungze.

The power plant will be located on a site of 669.3 hectares in the village of Ak-Turpak, which is in the Batken region. Construction work is planned to begin this year, with completion and commissioning scheduled for 2027. Once operational, the electricity generated will be purchased by the National Electric Networks of Kyrgyzstan (NESC), which will provide electricity to the residents of the village of Ak-Turpak.

Additionally, within the framework of the forum, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Chinese company POWERCHINA. This document aims to attract international investments, develop cooperation in the energy sector, create prospective plans for modernizing the energy system, train specialists, and explore the possibility of constructing floating solar power plants on the Toktogul Reservoir.
