Chinese companies will build a solar power plant in Kyrgyzstan

At the international forum taking place in Suzhou, China, the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan signed several agreements with Chinese companies for the development of renewable energy and attracting investments. This was reported in a press release from the Ministry of Energy.

In particular, an investment agreement for the construction of a 250 MW solar power plant in the village of Ak-Turpak in the Batken region was signed by the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, States Technology Co., Ltd., and San Energy Co.

The signatures on the document were placed by the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Talaybek Ibraev, the president of States Technology, Liu Fernando Oscar (investor), and the general director of San Energy, Liu Yungze (contractor).

Construction will begin in 2025, with completion scheduled for 2027. The area of the solar station will exceed 669 hectares, and the electricity generated will be purchased by the Open Joint Stock Company "National Electric Networks of Kyrgyzstan" (NESC). This project will provide electricity to the residents of the Ak-Turpak rural district and increase the share of green energy in the national energy balance.

According to the Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Talaybek Ibraev, "this project is an important step towards sustainable development and energy independence for Kyrgyzstan. We are actively developing cooperation with international partners in the field of renewable energy sources."

Additionally, a memorandum of cooperation was signed with the Chinese company Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA).

According to this document, the parties will work together to attract investors and financial institutions, conduct research, and train specialists from Kyrgyzstan. One of the areas of cooperation will be the exploration of the possibilities for constructing floating solar power plants on the Toktogul Reservoir.
