The government will complete all ongoing work to provide drinking water to populated areas.
On October 30, a ceremony was held in Bishkek to transfer special equipment to the populated areas of Naryn, Talas, and Issyk-Kul regions as part of the second project "Rural Water Supply and Sanitation."
The First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Taiyrbek Sarpashev, congratulated the recipients of the special equipment and expressed gratitude to international development partners for their support.
“Providing clean drinking water to the populated areas of the republic is one of the most important tasks of the Government. In this direction, as part of the implementation of the country's Sustainable Development Strategy until 2017, a number of projects are planned, some of which are in the implementation stage. The government will complete all initiatives related to providing villages with clean drinking water. Today we are witnessing the successful completion of another project on water supply and sanitation. The rural administrations of Naryn, Talas, and Issyk-Kul regions are receiving 7 excavators, 30 motor scooters, and 60 sets of equipment and tools for the operation and maintenance of water supply systems, totaling over 20 million soms,” said T. Sarpashev.
Note: The State Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic for Water Management and Melioration, as the executive agency, was tasked with transferring the powers for the implementation of the project "Second Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project" to the Agency for Development and Investment of Communities of the Kyrgyz Republic (ARIS).
At the time of the transfer of the "Second Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project," the chairman of the State Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic for Water Management and Melioration approved and transferred 36 subprojects to ARIS (6 new subprojects, 4 problematic subprojects, and 26 subprojects for eliminating defects from the first phase of the implementation of the "Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project").
All subprojects in 55 villages of the Issyk-Kul, Naryn, and Talas regions (financed by the World Bank) have been successfully completed to date.
