As noted in parliament, in recent years, artificial intelligence technologies have been actively developing in Uzbekistan, access to digital information is increasing, and qualified personnel in this field are being trained. Analysis shows a steady growth in both the application of AI and its financing.
The adopted law amends a number of existing regulatory acts, including the Law "On Informatization." It introduces the definition of the term "artificial intelligence" for the first time and outlines key areas of state policy and tasks for the bodies responsible for the development of this sector.
Additionally, the document establishes general principles for the application of AI in the creation and operation of information systems and resources, as well as measures to protect citizens' personal data when using these technologies.
Senators believe that this law provides a legal framework for the further progress of artificial intelligence technologies, promotes their safe and ethical use, and strengthens the protection of citizens' rights and freedoms in the context of digital transformation.
