During his speech at the People's Kurultai, President Sadyr Japarov discussed the state of family relationships in Kyrgyzstan.

He emphasized that the family is the foundation of the nation and an important element of the strength of the state. However, there is currently a concerning situation, with many marriages ending in divorce and children being left without one of their parents.

“In 2024, 45,321 marriages were registered in Kyrgyzstan, while 13,397 families broke up. Compared to the previous year, the number of divorces increased by 5.8%. This means that every third marriage ends in divorce, which is a troubling signal for society,” the president noted.

Japarov added that the reasons for divorces are diverse: among them are economic difficulties, lack of support, psychological pressure, conflicts, and domestic problems. The state intends to actively work on strengthening the institution of the family and identifying the social causes that lead to such outcomes.
