Sadyr Japarov: Salaries of teachers and doctors will double starting April 1

President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, announced a significant increase in salaries for education and healthcare workers at the fourth People's Kurultai held on December 25. He emphasized that respect for teachers and doctors is the foundation of a strong and prosperous state.

According to him, it is teachers who shape the future of the nation, and doctors protect the health and lives of people; however, representatives of these professions often face disrespect and even violence. "This is the limit of unculture. We must restore respect for these sacred professions. Without honoring teachers and doctors, it is impossible to create a cultured and developed society," the president noted.

In this regard, starting April 1, 2026, it is planned to increase the salaries of education and healthcare workers by an average of 100%. Previously, a 50% increase was discussed, but after additional consultations, it was decided to introduce a presidential compensation of 15,000 soms, which will effectively double incomes.

The president also stated: "Recently, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers mentioned that salaries would increase by no less than 50%. We discussed this in my office and decided that introducing an additional payment of 15,000 soms would allow us to raise salaries by an average of 100%." He provided examples: "The current average salary of teachers is 26,000 soms, and after the increase in April, it will reach 52,000 soms. Teacher salaries vary depending on education level, experience, qualifications, region, and subject. For example, a new teacher with a secondary pedagogical education but no experience will earn 36,800 soms, of which 31,200 soms will remain after taxes. Meanwhile, a teacher with 30 years of experience and a regional coefficient of 1.8 in mountainous areas will earn 97,600 soms."

Regarding healthcare, the president noted that the average salary of medical workers currently stands at 31,500 soms, and starting April 2026, it will increase to 62,500 soms, which after taxes and social contributions will amount to over 50,000 soms. "A young doctor without experience in the city currently earns 16,900 soms, and after the increase, their salary will be 42,100 soms, with 35,500 soms remaining after deductions. A highly qualified doctor with 30 years of experience working in high-altitude areas will earn 91,800 soms, with 75,700 soms remaining," he added.

The president also touched upon the salaries of other categories of workers: "The average salary of artists is 20,700 soms, which will increase to 46,500 soms starting April 1, 2026, with 39,000 soms remaining after deductions. The average salary of coaches will be 58,900 soms, with 45,000 soms remaining. Technical and service staff will also receive a raise, with their salaries increasing by 80% due to the presidential compensation of 5,000 soms."

Sadyr Japarov emphasized that these measures are aimed at raising the status of workers and recognizing their important contribution to the country's development. "Starting April 1, teachers' salaries will double, not increase by 50% as previously reported by the head of the Cabinet. We made this decision recently. A young educator right after university will earn 36,800 soms (with 31,200 soms remaining), while a mathematics teacher with 30 years of experience in a mountainous area will receive 97,600 soms instead of 65,800. The average salaries of medical workers will rise from 31,500 to 62,500, with more than 50,000 remaining after deductions. A young doctor without experience will earn 42,100 soms, with 35,500 remaining, while a highly qualified doctor will earn 91,800 soms, with 75,700 remaining," he concluded.
