The reasons for the shortage of medical workers in the country were announced by the head of the department
Kyrgyzstan is experiencing a shortage of 23 thousand medical workers, reported Acting Minister of Health Kanbek Dosmambetov during a meeting of the parliamentary committee.
According to his information, the staffing schedule of the ministry includes 88 thousand employees, but currently only 65 thousand are working. Among the missing workers are 6.5 thousand doctors, 8.5 thousand nurses, 3.5 thousand orderlies, and about 2 thousand technical specialists.
The main factor contributing to the shortage of personnel is the low level of wages.
Nevertheless, the acting minister emphasized that the fight against corruption among medical workers will continue, and those who decide to resign for this reason will not be retained in their positions.
Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh also discussed a draft law concerning changes in the healthcare sector, which includes granting the status of "National" to the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy.
If the law is adopted, at least 23 medical educational institutions will need to undergo accreditation. Educational institutions that do not meet the established requirements will be closed.
