The need for cancer treatment medications in Kyrgyzstan remains high, as reported by the state enterprise "Kyrgyzpharmacy."

Acting Minister of Health Kanibek Dosmambetov held a meeting to discuss issues related to providing medical institutions with necessary medications and maintaining continuous treatment for cancer patients.

At the meeting, representatives of "Kyrgyzpharmacy" shared information about the situation with the antitumor drug "Keytruda," produced by MSD Ireland.

This drug was delivered to the warehouse of "Kyrgyzpharmacy" in May 2025, but its quality assessment was suspended at the request of the regulator. As a result, the drug has been in the warehouse for over seven months.

It is worth noting that previously supplied medications from this manufacturer, including "Keytruda," underwent quality assessment without the need for separate certificates according to Order No. 1115 dated October 11, 2024. However, the validity of this order ended on September 30, 2025. At the time of the drug's import in May 2025, this order was still in effect, allowing for its acceptance into the warehouse with the subsequent completion of all necessary procedures.

The drug "Keytruda" is an important and in-demand oncology treatment used for various types of cancer. Its high cost requires special attention and a cautious approach to management decisions.

Considering the risk of the drug's expiration, potential interruptions in therapy for cancer patients, and possible financial losses, the acting Minister of Health decided to distribute it to medical institutions to ensure quality treatment for patients with oncological diseases.
