From November 19 to 22, training for national trainers in primary health care for children and adolescents is taking place in Bishkek, as reported by the Ministry of Health.

Twenty-five educators from medical universities and colleges are participating in this event to enhance their qualifications in areas such as growth monitoring, prevention, and treatment of common childhood diseases.

According to Deputy Minister Kaarmanbek Baidavletov, the new standards aim to ensure quality medical care for children and adolescents. National trainers will educate family doctors and primary health care specialists across the country.

The training is based on the WHO Primary Health Care Pocket Guide adapted for Kyrgyzstan, which serves as a practical tool for professionals working with children and adolescents.

This guide includes standardized services, among which are examinations of healthy and sick children, prevention, counseling for adolescents, and treatment of common diseases based on evidence-based protocols.

Samman Tapa, UNICEF representative in Kyrgyzstan, noted that UNICEF and WHO support primary health care workers by providing them with tools for comprehensive prevention and treatment of children and adolescents.

At the end of the seminar, trainers will implement the updated recommendations into educational programs for health care workers.

Liviou Vedrasco, WHO representative, added that this initiative underscores the commitment of the Ministry of Health, WHO, and UNICEF to strengthen primary care and improve the health of children and adolescents.
