Among the causes of primary disability among adults, the most attention is drawn to diseases of the nervous system, cardiovascular system, mental disorders, neoplasms, and endocrine system diseases. About 6% of cases are due to injuries, accidents, and poisonings.

Among children (aged 0 to 17 years), the main causes of primary disability are congenital anomalies, diseases of the nervous system, mental disorders, and eye diseases. Injuries and accidents account for only 3% of the total.

It was previously reported that more than 218,000 people with disabilities live in Kyrgyzstan, including over 37,000 children.
