This number marks the first decline in three years, decreasing by 4% compared to the previous year; however, it is 15% higher than the pre-pandemic migration level.
The main reason for immigration to OECD countries remains family reunification. At the same time, the number of labor migrants has dropped by 21% after a steady increase observed since 2020. Half of all migrants chose five countries: the USA, Germany, Canada, the UK, and Spain. Among the countries of origin for migrants, Venezuela, Colombia, and Syria lead the way.
