A ceremony dedicated to the laying of a time capsule took place at the Osh Interregional United Clinical Hospital, symbolizing the beginning of construction for a new perinatal center.

According to information from the press service of the Ministry of Health, this center is being established as part of the "Protection of Motherhood and Childhood" initiative, which is funded by the German government through the KfW Development Bank, in partnership with the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Health.

The event was attended by officials such as the authorized representative of the president in the Osh region, Elchibek Jantayev, the first deputy minister of health, Manas Toktomuratov, as well as the German ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Monika Lenhard, and representatives of the KfW Development Bank.

The general contractor for the project is the Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation.

The project includes the construction of a modern perinatal center with a total area of over 4,723 m², which will have 249 beds. It will include delivery and operating rooms, a pregnancy pathology department, intensive care for women and newborns, a neonatology unit, and rooms for mothers to stay with their children, as well as modern resuscitation departments.

The future center will be equipped with high-tech devices that meet international standards for perinatal care.

The implementation of this project will create better conditions for providing obstetric, gynecological, and neonatal care, as well as increase the accessibility of medical services for women and newborns in the Osh, Batken, and Jalal-Abad regions, while strengthening the regional routing system.

In addition to construction, the project also includes activities for training medical personnel, optimizing clinical processes, and introducing modern methods of managing pregnancy and caring for high-risk newborns.

"This project will significantly improve the conditions for perinatal care in the Southern region. The new center will meet current standards and ensure safety for mothers and newborns, including children with extremely low birth weight and women with high obstetric risk. We are confident that the updated infrastructure, training of medical staff, and implementation of modern clinical practices will lead to improved health outcomes for mothers and children," noted First Deputy Minister Manas Toktomuratov.
